对此，外交部发言人汪文斌于5月25日回应称：
“中国代表团已经就此发表声明，作出澄清。泽连斯基总统发表演讲时，中国代表团正在与国际能源署署长比罗尔会谈，并不在场。我们敦促美方有关议员作出更正，不要再散布虚假信息。”
“The Chinese delegation has issued a statement for clarification. During President Zelenskyy’s speech, the Chinese delegation was not at the venue as they were meeting with Dr. Fatih Birol, Executive Director of the International Energy Agency. We urge the US Congressman to make a correction, and stop spreading disinformation.”
5月26日，CNN一名公关人员在回复《环球时报》记者问询时承认报道错误，表示“昨天在一场和美国得克萨斯州众议员迈克尓·麦考尔的采访中，他声称乌克兰总统泽连斯基在达沃斯发表演讲之后，中国代表团拒绝起身为其鼓掌”。

“CNN已证实代表团不是来自中国”。这名公关人员在电邮中表示，“我们很遗憾在直播中出现了这个错误”，并透露称“我们已联系麦考尔的办公室以获得一份声明。”
After Chinese Foreign Ministry urged on Wednesday a US lawmaker to make a correction after he mistakenly told CNN that the “Chinese delegation” did not applaud Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s speech at the World Economic Forum (WFF) in Davos and walked out, CNN said in an email to the Global Times on Thursday that it had made a clarification on air on Tuesday, saying that CNN has confirmed that delegation was not from China.
“We regret the error appeared on our air… we reached out to McCaul’s office for a statement,” CNN said in the email.
