Twitter began widespread layoffs last Friday as new owner Elon Musk overhauls the company.
据美联社报道，上周四晚间，公司通过电子邮件告知员工，如果他们被裁员，周五就可以知道结果。推特安全与信任部门负责人尤尔·罗斯也在推特上确认，裁员大约占公司总人数7500人的一半。
The company told workers by email Thursday that they would learn Friday if they had been laid off. About half of the company’s staff of 7,500 was let go, Yoel Roth, Twitter’s head of safety & integrity, confirmed in a tweet.
马斯克则发推表示：
“关于推特裁员，不幸的是，当公司每天损失400万美元的时候，别无他法。每个被裁掉的人都得到了3个月的遣散费，这比法律要求的高出50%。”
不过马斯克没有透露推特公司每日亏损的细节。
Musk tweeted late Friday that there was no choice but to cut the jobs “when the company is losing over $4M/day.” He did not provide details on the daily losses at the company and said employees who lost their jobs were offered three months’ pay as a severance.

Numerous Twitter employees began posting on the platform Thursday night and Friday morning that they had already been locked out of their company email accounts ahead of the planned layoff notification.
截至上周五早上，推特公司的伦理人工智能、营销与沟通、搜索、公共政策等部门发推确认裁员。而根据员工发推显示，负责提升可靠消息（其中包括美国大选内容）比重的管理团队，也在裁员之列。
By Friday morning, Twitter employees from departments including ethical AI, marketing and communication, search, public policy other teams had tweeted about having been let go. Members of the curation team, which help elevate reliable information on the platform, including about elections, were also laid off, according to employee posts.
另据彭博社报道，在推特大规模裁员后，有些员工又收到了“复工”的通知。报道称，据公司内部人士透露，其中有些员工被裁是“失误（by mistake）”，另有一些则是因为管理层意识到，这些员工的能力与经验符合马斯克的新愿景。
Twitter is now reaching out to dozens of employees who lost their jobs and asking them to return. Some of those who are being asked to return were laid off by mistake, according to two people familiar with the moves. Others were let go before management realized that their work and experience may be necessary to build the new features Musk envisions, the people said, asking not to be identified discussing private information.

In a statement, Jack Dorsey - who quit as CEO in last November - said Twitter staff " I realize many are angry with me. I own the responsibility for why everyone is in this situation: I grew the company size too quickly. I apologize for that."
另据美联社报道，鉴于推特裁员的速度和规模，马斯克和公司可能面临诉讼。至少一名被裁员工提起诉讼，称推特涉嫌在没有提前给予足够通知的情况下进行裁员，违反美国联邦法律。
The speed and size of the cuts also opened Musk and Twitter to lawsuits. At least one was filed alleging Twitter violated federal law by not providing fired employees the required notice.
