8月31日，腾讯发布了《关于放弃音乐版权独家授权权利的声明》，称已放弃与上游相关版权方音乐版权独家协议中有关音乐版权独家授权的权利，并称绝大部分独家协议已按期解约。此前，国家市场监督管理总局于2021年7月24日对腾讯下发《腾讯控股有限公司收购中国音乐集团股权违法实施经营者集中案行政处罚决定书》，腾讯称严格按照《决定书》要求，尽快解除独家协议。
Tencent Holdings Ltd has terminated all its exclusive music copyright agreements after Chinese regulators barred it from such deals last month. Tencent said in a statement on Tuesday night it had notified the upstream copyright parties involved in such agreements, and will continue to cooperate and engage with these parties in a non-exclusive way. In July, the State Administration of Market Regulation ordered Tencent to give up its exclusive rights to music labels, and imposed a penalty of 500,000 yuan ($77,400) for the internet giant's monopolistic behavior.
