A recent surge in COVID-19 cases in Japan has raised public fears that the country is walking a tightrope as it prepares for the Olympics. With less than 100 days to go until the Games, polls show that more than 70 percent of Japanese say the events should be delayed again or called off entirely. Organizers and Olympic officials insist the Games will go ahead safely, but Toshiro Nikai, the Liberal Democratic Party’s secretary-general, said the Olympics must be canceled “without hesitation” if the virus situation is too severe, China Daily reported. Even if the Olympics go on, there may be no fans of any kind in the venues.

Notes

You are walking a tightrope by putting all of your money in the casino.
