为表彰其为贫困家庭女孩教育所做的贡献，云南省丽江市华坪女子高级中学校长张桂梅日前被授予“时代楷模”称号。她扎根边疆教育一线40余年，在党和政府以及社会各界的帮助下，推动创建了一所免费招收贫困女生的高中，2008年建校以来已帮助1800多位女孩走出大山走进大学，用知识改变贫困山区女孩命运。（戳

High school principal Zhang Guimei has been honored with the title Role Model of the Times due to her dedication to education for girls. Zhang has been helping girls from poor areas pursue education for over 40 years. She helped establish Huaping Senior High School for Girls in Lijiang, Yunnan province – the country’s first senior high school to offer free education for girls from poor families.
