《中国日报》网站报道指出，现实中，八路军作战条件艰苦，很难获得足够补给；且八路军军纪严明，作风过硬，尊重爱护百姓。

自然，这样一部“雷剧”，遭到各方差评。有网友认为该剧歪曲史实，混淆真相，是对英勇抗击侵略者的英烈的不敬。
The wrongdoing of the drama lies in distorting historical truths and mixing what they made as fiction with truth. That's a kind of disrespect to the martyrs and heroes in history who fought with life and blood to chase the imperial Japanese invaders away.

15日晚，《人民日报》官方微博发表#人民锐评#指出：“偶像剧”套路用在抗日题材，此路不通！
评论写道：让“八路军战士”住豪华别墅，主角几乎清一色都用发胶、发蜡，以“亮剑3”为噱头的抗日剧《雷霆战将》把“偶像剧”套路用在抗日题材上。影视剧中考虑年轻人的习惯，创新表现方式，并非不可以，但前提是尊重历史，不能剑走偏锋。只有心怀敬畏，尊重历史、尊重观众才能拍出真正接地气的影视作品。

16日，《雷霆战将》已经从多个播出平台下架。

在当天下午，该剧官方微博还曾发布图文，对网上热议话题做出解释回应了剧中服装，喝咖啡和抽雪茄的问题。

不过，这样的说明并没有得到观众理解，《雷霆战将》官微也在随后删除了这条微博。

中央政法委长安剑微信公众号在18日发表文章指出，任何轻佻都是对民族感情的伤害。
文章指出：
该剧收获的“差评”，是因为剧中不真实里流露出来的轻佻，伤害了观众的感情；
演员年轻俊美也不是“差评”原因，而在于将青春偶像剧的套路当做市场的唯一需求，尤其是在体现抗战题材中；
差评绝非是因为“这届观众不行”，而是因为没有找到时代发展的方向。作品落在了人民后面，当人民想推着它向前走时，它却摆起了架子。
