Bilibili released its annual ranking of most popular danmus on Tuesday.
Danmus, or “bullet comments”, is a commentary system allowing users to leave synchronized messages that scroll directly over videos.
The danmu of the year goes to “yeqinghui”, which colloquially translates to “My youth is making a comeback”.
此外，“武汉加油（Come on Wuhan）”、“有内味了（Finally getting it right）”、“双厨狂喜（an expression of the excitement to see two favorite idols appear in the same work）”、“禁止套娃（No old tricks please!）”和“爷青回（My youth is making a comeback）”一起，成为了2020年度弹幕TOP5。

据B站统计，2020年大家共在B站发出了超过22亿条弹幕，而“爷青回”这条弹幕一共出现了540多万次。
This catchphrase appeared 5.42 million times among the 2.2 billion comments sent out by Bilibili users.

“爷青回”是“爷的青春回来了”的缩写，它表达了人们对岁月的追忆，和与青春重逢的欣喜，常见于青春时代经历过的人、影视剧、游戏、动画等事物，以一种崭新的形式在当下再现和回归的场景中。
According to Bilibili, “yeqinghui” is often used when a certain video or TV episode reflects a sense of nostalgia or awakens reminiscences of one’s youth. It is also gaining traction among viewers who are into video remakes or adaptations of classical theatrical works.
