United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres told other world leaders during his opening remarks at the UN General Assembly on Tuesday that the billionaires' race to space demonstrated massive gaps between the poor and the uber-wealthy.

Amazon founder, Jeff Bezos, and Virgin Group founder, Richard Branson, each made it into space in July on their respective private rockets. Though the billionaires were only in orbit for a matter of moments, the trips cost billions of dollars and attracted a worldwide audience. Both billionaires received heavy criticism later, as people called for the men to pay higher taxes.

Sen. Elizabeth Warren took Bezos to task for the spaceflight after ProPublica reported that the Amazon founder didn't pay any income taxes for at least two years between 2006 and 2018. "He's laughing at every person in America who actually paid taxes," Warren said.
据联合国7月12日在纽约总部发布的《世界粮食安全和营养状况》报告显示，2020年全球约十分之一人口面临食物不足困境。其中，亚洲面临粮食短缺的人口为4.18亿，非洲2.82亿。
报告还显示，2020年全球有24亿人无法获得营养充足的食物，比上年增加近3.2亿。
