1月7日，美国国务院发言人奥特加斯（Morgan Ortagus）在接受英国媒体采访时，还在坚称被美军炸死的伊朗高级指挥官苏莱马尼（Qassem Suleimani），是联合国安理会认证的“恐怖分子”。
事实上，
联合国安理会1747号决议（United Nations Security Council Resolution 1747）
将苏莱马尼列为制裁对象，并非“恐怖分子”。
